Tiny Showcase released ltd. ed. “OG Squiggle” — 15% of all proceeds to LCAT Lobbying fund. by Abbie Zuidema

Right in time for Valentines!

My watercolor painting, “OG Squiggle”, was released as a ltd.ed. by Tiny Showcase! Prints are created by @tinyshowcase and ship with a certificate of authenticity. The artwork has been printed on a heavy 290gsm natural white paper. Each print measures 10 x 8 inches. $30.

15% of the profits will be donated to the @lcatadvocacy Licensed Creative Arts Therapists (LCAT) Lobbying fund. This cause is near & dear to me as a recent graduate from Pratt Institute with a MA in Creative Arts Therapy.

“The mental health crisis in New York continues and New Yorkers deserve more access to psychotherapy provided by Licensed Creative Arts Therapists. Since May 2023 (funded 100% through grassroots action) a lobbyist representing LCATs— has been in Albany, fighting on behalf of LCATs and our clients.

LCATs were removed/excluded from 3 recent mental health expansion bills in New York State - a bill to mandate Medicaid coverage, a bill to expand diagnostic privilege, and most recently a bill to mandate blanket commercial health insurance coverage for psychotherapy.

In 2024 we are pressing forward to try to get our LCAT-only insurance coverage bill passed & to add LCATs to the Medicaid Provider List.”

Epic painting mural project collaboration for @buttercuphudson with @ellaloudon.

It was 90 degrees.  It was a great time. @Ellaloudon and I sang our way through the 8x8 foot mural, dipping our brushes into a rainbow of colors.

The lobster roll, soft serve, giant hot dog and icy cool cocktail are by me!  Ella Loudon created the unforgettable logo. We added a gold tooth. My first collaboration/mural this size - cool process.  Who knew it was a life goal to paint a HUGE lobster?!

Hungry & thirsty to celebrate this new venture @buttercup. It’s a star studded show with all sorts of deliciousness. You’d be foolish NOT to go.

Photographer Nicholas Calcott took my portrait. by Abbie Zuidema

2019-015_0106.jpg

He’s incredibly talented. I’m never comfortable in front of camera; I’d much rather be the observer.

Nicholas Calcott took these in what was my last season in NYC. March 5, 2019. I had no idea. Grateful to have this moment documented.

I believe a good photographer captures the light that illuminates their subject. Creating a perspective, a distance from yourself, so you get a glimpse as others might see you. Freckles!  I never knew I had them until I saw my portrait when I was 21.  Imagine?!  Like many of us, my perception of self is skewed.

Nick is good at what he does, and it shows. Thank you for the insight.
