Photographer Nicholas Calcott took my portrait. by Abbie Zuidema

He’s incredibly talented. I’m never comfortable in front of camera; I’d much rather be the observer.

Nicholas Calcott took these in what was my last season in NYC. March 5, 2019. I had no idea. Grateful to have this moment documented.

I believe a good photographer captures the light that illuminates their subject. Creating a perspective, a distance from yourself, so you get a glimpse as others might see you. Freckles!  I never knew I had them until I saw my portrait when I was 21.  Imagine?!  Like many of us, my perception of self is skewed.

Nick is good at what he does, and it shows. Thank you for the insight.

Artist portrait~Randy Ryandi by Abbie Zuidema

Photographer Randy Ryandi recently shot my portrait for his artists series.  Using a Hasselblad & real black and white film, he graced my Bed-stuy studio with his presence.  He's a delight.  Thank you Randy, it was a pleasure.

See more of his work on his website http://randyryandi.com/.  He's not on Instagram - its too mainstream ;)
